The best month to sell your house

Are you thinking of moving?

April is a great time to get your house on the market.

Spring always comes out on top as the best time to sell. This is probably because people aren’t away for the summer holidays or busy with Christmas celebrations.

Another good thing about spring is that your home will look better when the garden is coming into bloom and the sun is (hopefully) out for longer. Good light and mild weather give properties an edge and many families want to tie their purchase in with the end of the school year which means starting the process now.

More daylight hours and sunny spells also fuel a lighter and more positive mindset which means a project such as buying or selling a house feels easier to manage. At Weekes we take care to understand your individual situation and can often even sell your house privately and within a timescale that works for you, which means that you can spend your time enjoying spring.

What is the property market looking like right now?

Miles Shipside, Rightmove director and housing market analyst reports that the first two months of 2018 saw Rightmove traffic at its highest ever levels, and this demand appears to be now feeding through to fuel the substantial £4,503 jump in average new seller asking prices this month.

‘Ironically a sense of urgency to buy is also present from the speculation that another interest rate rise from the Bank of England is on the cards soon. Buyers who apply for a mortgage before interest rates rise should be able to borrow more cheaply,’ says Shipside.

So if you’ve been thinking about selling your property, then now’s the time to give Weekes a call on (01392) 459922 and arrange your free market appraisal.
