Exeter's vibrant community for the over 65s

Apartments in a retirement development or block provide a ready-made community. What this means is that on the days or evenings that you feel like having company there is plenty going on in a communal lounge. There’s often a large range of activities available so that you can meet like-minded people in an easy way. However, on the days you don’t feel like socialising you have a beautiful private apartment to relax peacefully in.

‘A retirement property relieves you of all the maintenance jobs,’ explains Tony McGee from Weekes Estate Agents, ‘with all the services taken care of so you don’t have to worry about repairs or cleaning. In some cases meals are available for those who don’t wish to shop or cook leaving you more time to entertain family and close friends in your spare room or the complex’s guest suite. You can also enjoy the landscaped garden in spring and summer or a short stroll to the local shops.’

Living in one of these purpose-built properties gives you the security of either a visiting or live-in house manager and a call system in case things go wrong or you find yourself unwell. This is particularly reassuring for those with families far away.

Weekes have just sold one such property and are currently marketing a second one in Pegasus Court in Exeter. Pegasus Court is a modern development in Heavitree, Exeter made up of 50 apartments. It offers resident management staff and alarm service and has a lift, lounge, laundry, guest facilities for visiting relatives, a library and a shared garden where you can sit out on sunny days. The whole site is also accessible by wheelchair.

In order to maintain your independence the properties are in a very convenient location, just 100 yards from a bus stop, 100 yards from a shop and doctor’s surgery, 150 yards to the post office and 1 mile from the city centre. Regular social activities include a coffee morning, Tai Chi, scrabble, whist, social bingo, art club, poetry club and ad hoc functions, organised by the residents.

New residents are accepted from 65 years of age. Both cats and dogs are generally accepted (subject to terms of lease and landlord permission) which means nobody will get left behind!

Currently for sale is a lovely 2 bedroom apartment on the first floor, reached by a lift. It includes a private entrance hall, large sitting room/dining room with Juliette balcony that overlooks a school playing field, a modern, fitted kitchen with integrated hob and oven, a master bedroom with built in wardrobe, a second, guest bedroom and bathroom.

Pegasus Court is for sale at a guide price of £220,000. To view Pegasus Court or to discuss a similar property that you would like to sell please contact Tony at Weekes on 01392 459922
